By definition: a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being. It is an ancient Japanese healing technique created by Dr. Usui, designed to promote healing and relaxation without excluding any person from having access to it based upon their religion, geographical location, personal beliefs or sex. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”
In-person or distant healings use universal energy (Ki/Prana/Lung/Chi) which penetrates everything to heal recipients who may have physical, emotional or mental ailments. Reiki works similarly to acupuncture in a way, that is deals with treating the inner channels or “meridians / nadis” in the energy-body.
All things energetic have emotional and physical manifestation. Therefore in Reiki, we aim to alleviate physical, mental and emotional ailments through clearing out old/unwanted energy which is no longer serving us well. We then replace it with new energy which is drawn directly from the universe through the practitioner, who merely acts as a channel, to the recipient.
Using visualization and intuition, the Reiki Practitioner is able to scan the energy-body of the recipient before, during and after the session to locate any blocks in the chakras and channels that need attending to. Knowing the recipient’s name and approximate location also enhances the strength of the connection.
Reiki is available to all, for all. Reiki stimulates growth, health, life and healing. When it is freely allowed to flow around the body it can keep us alive and healthy for over one hundred and twenty years. Unfortunately, bad habits and poor choices result in the flow of Reiki being stifled.
On a physical level, the benefits of a session will greatly improve your quality of life. The blocked emotional and physical elements that lead to illness and disease are cleared. As the energy transfer occurs, the positive life force energy not only pushes out the negativity and stress, but it also works to heal your body as well. When you’re living under constant stress, your body isn’t functioning optimally. The Reiki process helps to bring your body back to balance and back to its natural level of health so that it can function at peak performance. Without the emotional “baggage” and physical pain that is associated with it, you’re able to enjoy your life and the sweet moments within it from a lighter and brighter perspective.
On a mental level, you truly are empowered. Reiki gives us the opportunity to recognize certain thought patterns that don’t necessarily help us or make life easier. With this awareness we are able to take back our power by being able to master our mind. It gives us the opportunity to consciously choose our thoughts and build new, healthier mental habits.
On an emotional level, by accessing a deeper level of connection with your emotions, you begin to understand yourself in new depths and are given the ability to interpret, heal and transform the aspects that you wish to improve upon. Reiki can aid in cultivating positive emotions such as love, joy, peace, compassion, intimacy and kindness.
On a spiritual level, Reiki helps you develop a deep love for yourself and others. Turning hostility and anger into love, peace and compassion. This expansion in spirituality greatly enhances your already present ability to manifest. You will feel more connected to yourself and the Universe. After-all, it is the universe that is assisting you in this healing session.
Reiki is the key that unlocks the body’s optimum capabilities. There are seven main energy centers in the body that control the flow of the universal life force. They are called the Chakras. Each chakra is responsible for supplying energy to specific parts of the body. When they are blocked or clogged the body becomes sick and the flow of energy is diluted.
